I'm David Blaesing — 64 years Young. I'm a retired Postmaster with more than two decades of postal and logistics management experience, USMC veteran, 100% service-connected disabled veteran, and a Full Sail University Honor student with a 4.0 GPA, pursuing degrees in Information Technology and Cybersecurity. Married to my wife, Amy Blaesing for over 11 years. I am a proud father, proud grandfather, and a proud American citizen who believes in the power of listening to everyday Americans to solve real problems with real solutions.

Before the post office, I spent more than two decades solving real problems in a real American economy — as General Manager of a 20-screen Regal Cinemas, a Pizza Hut manager, a Pizza Franchise Owner, and an IT technician in banking, insurance, and the military — with an IT background stretching back to 1981 when personal computing was just beginning to change the American workplace.

"Customer service, business metrics, people management, and problem-solving aren't concepts I studied. A career and skillset earned working in the trenches. Not in the boardroom."

I'm traveling America by Amtrak alongside volunteers and community coordinators to listen directly to veterans and postal workers, to citizens of rural communities and metropolitan cities about the real challenges facing our postal service and supply chains.

Our veterans, legacy workers, families, and community leaders hold the heart of America's potential. It's time we listened to them first. America Breathes 2028, the Whistle Stop Tour, and the Stable Address Initiative exist to make sure their voices reach Washington.

"I'm not going to ask you to back something I haven't experienced. In 1993, I was homeless — sleeping in my car at a rest stop off the turnpike, my whole life packed into a storage unit. I showered at the gym. I brushed my teeth at work and put on my management clothes so no one would know. I never stopped working. I just didn't have a door to call my own BUT I was using a P.O. Box as a mailing address which helped me to get all my critical mail. That's why this mission isn't politics to me — it's personal. I clawed my way back to become a United States Postmaster and a business owner. And every veteran sleeping in a car tonight deserves that same shot. Sometimes it starts with something as simple as an address."

David speaking to a happy crowd, explaining the PO Box proposal and the Stable Address Initiative

I came up the way most Americans do — 23 years working in a variety of careers mostly holding two full-time jobs at the same time while earning a skillset of serving the American public by working in the trenches. I sold movie tickets in box offices, I cooked food in many kitchens, I worked as an IT data computer technician for banks and an insurance company. I delivered pizza to your homes, I drove you to and from places in a yellow taxi or as an Uber driver, I worked for 12 years as your mail letter carrier delivering mail and packages in the rain, the snow, the freezing weather and walked for hours under that unbearable Florida sun and finally as a working Postmaster selling stamps behind the counter to you and supervising my employees at your local post office. Not in the boardroom. So, when I tell you our system is hurting — I'm not reading it off a chart. I lived it.

HEADLINES: Congress Doesn't Understand the Postal Service Issues!!!

Consultants study the postal service. Lobbyists represent it. Politicians debate it. Congress keeps passing bills forgiving the postal service billions of dollars in losses. But the problems persist. The headlines scream that Congress doesn't understand the issues facing the Postal Service. They keep brushing the problems under the rug. They keep passing bills that don't fix the problems. They keep ignoring the solutions and hope the problems go away. But the problems don't go away. They get worse.

Just ask the current Postmaster General, David P. Steiner or the prior Postmaster General, Louis DeJoy. Just ask the 600,000 postal employees who are working harder than ever to keep the mail moving. Just ask the millions of Americans who rely on the Postal Service every day living in remote rural areas and the bustling metropolises for their medicine, their bills, and their packages.

But David Blaesing worked in it — for 20 years, in communities across America. He shared with the Post Office real solutions like many other Postmasters did, but they chose not to implement them. He and other Postmasters & Managers would spend at least four hours a day on executive reporting instead of running their offices. He saw the technology — Power BI dashboards, real-time data — sitting unused, shortages of qualified employees while layers of Senior management asked why things weren't getting done and blaming the Postmasters and Managers of your local post offices.

He knows where the system works. He knows where it fails. And he knows that the people who can fix it aren't in Washington yet — they're at every stop on the Whistle Stop Tour and Stable Address Initiative.
